Most of these have been said time and time again in various games, and they're also common sense. It still bears repeating, however!
- BE NICE. That means being kind to your fellow players. No rude insults, slurs, bitching, etc. While many of these can be done in a joking fashion between friends, they should not go into territory that makes people upset or unhappy. Be welcoming to everyone! It's just a game, we should all be able to get along.
- Stay IC. This should be common sense. Character development is important and encouraged, but it should be within the realm of that character's personality. Drastic changes to a character should have been developing for a long time in an appropriate fashion with suitable reasons, or they shouldn't occur at all. All character interactions that are to be considered canonical for purposes of this game must be public or they don't count towards character development.
- No godmoding. This should be common sense as well, but it's usually the main issue in games. Don't control other people's characters. If you have an idea for someone else's character, contact that character's player and talk it over with them. If you don't have permission, then you never do something with someone else's character. If you and another player are very close friends, that player may give you their godmoding rights, wherein they trust you to handle their character for them in an appropriate fashion. This must be given publically, otherwise it will be seen as inappropriate godmoding.
- Similarly, if you have plot ideas please bring them up, but don't make them focus on a specific character, especially one that is not yours. This puts other people on the spot and they may not be comfortable with the idea or even want to be involved. Also, don't drag other characters into plots or posts without first contacting them so that they know or are comfortable with what may be coming up.
- Try to stay active. If you've apped a character, we want to see them around! Feel free to take hiatuses as needed - RL happens and school takes priority - and sometimes characters just don't have anything to stay, but at least try to get them out an doing things whenever you can. otherwise, what's the point in having the character?
- I don't see sexuality coming into play in this game really, but it bears mentioning that this game is open to and friendly to any sexuality or lack thereof. As long as a character is still acting IC, it's anyone's game what they may or may not want to do in their private life. If for some reason you want to log out more intimate details, it must be put under a cut, locked, and tagged appropriately so that people know what they are getting into if they wish to read that post or log. No one should be able to say "I HAD NO IDEA THEY WERE GOING TO DO THAT!!" if they read your post.
- It also bears saying that a character's opinions on such delicate issues as sexuality DO NOT have any bearing on a player's. These things should not be taken as a player's feelings, especially if a character has issues with certain sexualities. This does not mean that a player may use their character as a sounding board for their own feelings on these issues. Players using characters to express their own hatred or opinions are breaking the first rule, and will be subject to removal from the game. If any issue is brought up, explanations or proof of such things in the character's canon should be presented as evidence that such things are in fact in-character for that particular character.
- The character limit is currently at three characters, with a player limit of one character per fandom. The fandom limit can be discussed with a mod, however, depending on expansive canons and such. If you wish to pick up another character above your three, and you maintain suitable activity with all of them, chances are it will be allowed. These things can be flexible, provided that you can uphold your end of the deal.
- If you’re not sure on something – a rule, a plot you want to do, something about the setting – then please ask. Communication is important, especially with a game like this!
- Expanding on #7, keep IC to IC and OOC to OOC. Don't mix and match. Don't metagame. IC drama is just that - two characters having issues. Players should not take out their OOC frustrations through their characters. Likewise, just because two characters don't get along does not mean that one player dislikes the other. If you have any actual issues with someting, discuss them with me or the other person. Working out these problems before they explode into RP drama is far preferred.
- HAVE FUN. This is the most important rule. It's a game and is meant to be fun, so enjoy yourself! If someone or something is impeding your ability to have fun, please bring it up to me ASAP. Pretendy funtimes needs to be that, and it's my job to help facilitate these funtimes.
